Thirassia Island forms the western aspect in the caldera, and was linked to Santorini ahead of the ancient volcanic eruption that fashioned the caldera. It’s an inhabited island with some very good regional tavernas, beach locations, climbing trails, the picturesque Church on the Virgin Mary, plus the intriguing, deserted cave village of Agrilia.
